Bio

Ariel Wong is a Hong Kong-born soprano, pursuing a Master of Music in Vocal Performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music under the tutelage of Mary Schiller. Wong’s operatic roles include Suor Angelica in Suor Angelica, Contessa Almaviva and Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, and Arminda in La finta giardiniera. She has also appeared in opera scenes as Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Hanna Glawari in The Merry Widow, the Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte, and Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro. As a soprano soloist, she was invited to perform William L. Dawson’s There is a Balm in Gilead and Felix Mendelssohn’s Hear My Prayer.

Wong has collaborated with various music organisations in Hong Kong, including SingFest, Musica Viva and Opera Hong Kong. Additionally, she has performed in the Hong Kong Arts Festival production of “Garden of Repose” with NOĒMA and “The Suppliant Women” with Cantoría Hong Kong.

Wong has also won several prizes as a soloist, including the Grantham Music Awards 2021-2022, the 3rd place in the Ohio state round of the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition, and the 3rd prize in 24th Osaka International Music Competition. She received her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music with First Class Honour from the Hong Kong Baptist University. She has studied with Candice Chung and Melody Sze.
