Bio

A passionate and hearty story teller, Junyue Gong, Chinese Mezzo-Soprano, is quickly establishing herself as a versatile artist with an eclectic range of musical interests spanning from baroque to the present day.

Ms. Gong will soon be joining Des Moines Metro Opera as an Apprentice Artist where she will sing the role of Nicoletta in Prokofiev’s The Love for Three Oranges (cover) and she will perform in the Stars of Tomorrow concert in July with the Des Moines Metro Opera Orchestra for the 2023 summer season. There, she will also appear in the core choruses of Bizet’s Carmen and Prokofiev’s The Love for Three Oranges. At Opera Scenes Concert in Des Moines, she will be performing Sesto from the opera "Giulio Cesare," and Jade Boucher from the opera "Dead man walking." Last season, she performed the role of Sister Gertrude in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmelites at the College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). She will be joining CCM Opera Theater as Bianca in the production of The Rape of Lucretia.

Junyue is currently pursuing her M.M. in Vocal Performance from The University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music.
