Und schöner noch als einst der Traum
And more beautiful still than once the dream

Begab es sich in Wirklichkeit ?
Occurred it in reality ? 

Es war am grünen Waldesraum,

Der Waldbach schwoll, die Knospe sprang,
The brook flowed, the buds were sprouting,

Geläut erscholl vom Dorfe her ? 
Bells rang out from the village there ?

I held you tightly, I held you for a long time

Und lasse dich nun nimmermehr!
And would release you now never more!

O frühlingsgrüner Waldesraum!
Oh spring-green woodland glen!

Du lebst in mir durch alle Zeit ?
You live within me through all time ? 

Dort ward die Wirklichkeit zum Traum,
There turned the reality to a dream,

Dort ward der Traum zur Wirklichkeit!
There turned the dream to reality!
