Show Synopsis:
In the latest version of On A Clear Day You Can See Forever, Dr. Mark Bruckner, a recent widow, begins to fall in love with a reincarnated woman named Melinda speaking to him through David, one of his psychiatric patients. Mark begins to hypnotize David around New York City so that he can have "dates" with Melinda, and David begins to fall for Mark. David pieces together historical information and realizes that Melinda, who seems very real to him, is going towards her death. He lets Melinda go, and realizes that he can also move forwards from losing his wife. David reunites with his boyfriend Warren.

Character:
Melinda Wells, a confident jazz singer in a 1940s nightclub who wants to find love and fame	.

Fun Facts:
1) This song was sung as "She Wasn't You" in the original 1965 Broadway production, which had a slightly different book. It was also "He Isn't You," sung by Barbra Streisand playing Melinda in the 1970 fim adaptation, and was done as a quartet called "(S)he Wasn't You" in the 2011 Broadway revival.
2) In the original production, the same woman played both Daisy (the original patient of Dr. Bruckner who could channel Melinda) and Melinda. The revisions to the later Broadway production construct a more amusing love triangle between three separate characters played by three separate actors.
3) Both actresses who played the role of Melinda on Broadway - Barbara Harris and Jessie Mueller - were nominated for Tony Awards.

"I don't know why they redesigned me.
He likes the way he used to find me.
He likes the girl I left behind me.
I mean he...I mean me...
What did I have that I don't have?
What did he like that I lost track of?
What did I do that I don't do the way I did before?
What isn't there that once was there?
What have I got a great big lack of?
Something in me that
He could see that
Beckons to him no more,
I'm just a victim of time,
Obsolete in my prime,
Out-of-date and outclassed, by my past!
What did he love that there's none of?
What did I lose the sweet warm knack of?
Wouldn't I be the late great me if I knew how?
Oh, what did I have I don't have now?
What did I have that I don't have?
What do I need big supply of?
What was the trick I did particularly well before?
What did he see that's gone in me?
What did I use that now I'm shy of?
Why is the sequel never the equal?
Why is there no encore?
Where can I go to repair?
All the wear and the tear
Till I'm once again the previous me!
What did he like that I am not like?
What was the charm that I've run dry of?
What would I give if my old know-how still knew how?
Oh what did I know?
Tell me where did it go!
What, oh, what did I have I don't have now?"
