Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen,
I have to the world lost become,

Mit der ich sonst viele Zeit verdorben;
With which I usually much time wasted;

Sie hat so lange nichts von mir vernommen,
It has so long nothing from me heard,

Sie mag wohl glauben, ich sei gestorben!
It may well believe I had died!

Es ist mir auch gar nichts daran gelegen,
It is to me also absolutely nothing on it important,

Ob sie mich für gestorben hält.
Whether it me dead thinks.

Ich kann auch gar nichts sagen dagegen,
I can also absolutely nothing say against it,
 
Denn wirklich bin ich gestorben der Welt.
For really am I dead to the world.

Ich bin gestorben dem Weltgetümmel
I have died to the world?s turmoil

Und ruh? in einem stillen Gebiet.
And rest in a quiet place.

Ich leb? allein  in meinem Himmel,
I live alone in my heaven,

In meinem Lieben, in meinem Lied.
In my loving, in my song.
