Song Context: Magaldi performs one of his regular numbers for an adoring audience at a charity concert for an earthquake in San Juan, Argentina. Fun Facts: 1. This musical is based on the life of Eva Perón, the wife of Juan Perón, President of Argentina. 2. The real-life Augustin Magaladi's nickname was "the sentimental voice of Buenos Aires," but there is no certainty as to whether he actually brought Eva to Buenos Aires or knew her at all. 3. Max von Essen played Magaldi in the 2012 Broadway revival of Evita and told CallMeAdam.com that "Magaldi was a professional singer, and that for me, is an instant connection. Everything grows from there. A lot of people don't know that Agustin Magaldi enjoyed a very successful career and left many many recordings for future generations to hear. I purchased a few records of his which I found on eBay and downloaded dozens of songs off of iTunes. I continue to listen to him before performances to help prepare."
"On this night of a thousand stars, Let me take you to heaven's door Where the music of love's guitars Plays forevermore. In the glow of those twinkling lights We shall love through eternity. On this night in a million nights, Fly away with me. I never dreamed that a kiss Could be as sweet as this But now I know that it can. I used to wander alone Without a love of my own - I was a desperate man. But all my grief disappeared And all the sorrow I'd feared Wasn't there anymore. On that magical day, When you first came my way, mi amor. On this night, on this night, On this night of a thousand stars. Let me take you to heaven's door Where the music of love's guitars Plays forevermore."
