Show Synopsis: Judas Iscariot is concerned that people are putting too much faith in Jesus, but he has acquired a mass of followers to go with him to Jerusalem anyway. Judas is also concerned about how Jesus is spending money, and that he is associating with Mary Magdalene, but Jesus insists that he knows what is best for the people. Jewish priests, including Caiaphas and Annas, want to kill Jesus to avoid unrest with the Roman Empire, and Jesus is upset with what Jerusalem has become - a place for prostitutes and drugs. Judas is jealous of Mary's relationship with Jesus and helps the priests capture and arrest Jesus. King Herod asks Jesus to perform miracles as part of his punishment and trial, and Jesus refuses, so Herod labels him a fake. Judas cannot live with his guilt and commits suicide, and Pontius Pilate whips and crucifies Jesus to satisfy the crowd of people at the trial. Jesus dies on the cross as Mary and the apostles mourn him. Character: Mary Magdalene, a young woman who is hinted to be a prostitute and cares deeply for Jesus; is not always sure how to respond to Jesus and his beliefs. Song Context: Jesus wakes up from an unpleasant and prophetic dream and Mary tries to comfort him. She lies down next to him, but while Jesus falls back asleep, Mary cannot do the same, and finds herself reflecting about Jesus and their relationship. Fun Facts: 1. It's tough along the way trying to figure out how to do that."
"I don't know how to love him. What to do, how to move him. I've been changed, yes really changed. In these past few days, when I've seen myself, I seem like someone else. I don't know how to take this. I don't see why he moves me. He's a man. He's just a man. And I've had so many men before, In very many ways, He's just one more. Should I bring him down? Should I scream and shout? Should I speak of love, Let my feelings out? I never thought I'd come to this. What's it all about? Don't you think it's rather funny, I should be in this position. I'm the one who's always been So calm, so cool, no lover's fool, Running every show. He scares me so. I never thought I'd come to this. What's it all about? Yet, if he said he loved me, I'd be lost. I'd be frightened. I couldn't cope, just couldn't cope. I'd turn my head. I'd back away. I wouldn't want to know. He scares me so. I want him so. I love him so."
