Nei giardin del bello saracin ostello,
In the garden of the beautiful Saracen palace,

All'olezzo, al rezzo degli allôr, dei fior
Amid the perfume, the fresh air of the laurels, of flowers

Una bell'almea, tutta chiusa in vel,
A beautiful dancing girl, all covered in a veil,

Contemplar parea una stella in ciel.
Gazes seemingly at a star in the sky. 

Mohammed, Re moro, al giardin sen va;
Mohammed, King Moorish, to the garden he goes;

Dice a lei: "T'adoro, o gentil beltà
He says to her: ?I love you, oh gentle beauty

Vien, a sè t'invita per regnare il Re
Come, to him who invites you to reign the King

La Regina ambita non è' più da me.?
The Queen desired not is no longer by me.?

Ah! Tessete i veli, vaghe donzelle, 
Ah! Weave the veils, lovely damsels,

Mentre è nei cieli l'astro maggior,
While is in the sky the star the largest,

Chè sono I veli, al brillar delle stelle 
For are the veils, in the twinkling of stars

Più cari all'amor.
More dear to love. 

Ma discerno appena, (chiaro il ciel non è)
But I can discern barely, (bright the sky is not)

I cappelli belli, la man breve, il piè
The hair beautiful, the hand small, the feet

Deh! solleva il velo che t'asconde a me;
Come! Lift the veil that hides you from me;

Esser come il cielo senza vel tu dè
To be as the sky without a veil you must

Se il tuo cor vorrai a me dare in don,
If your heart would like to me to give as a gift,

Il mio trono avrai, chè sovrano io son
My throne you shall have, for sovereign I am

Tu lo vuoi? T'inchina, appagar ti vo!
You it wish? Bend down, satisfy you I will!

"Allah! La Regina" Mohammed sclamò. Ah! 
?Allah! The Queen? Mohammed exclaimed. Ah!
