Show Synopsis:
Eva blackmails a famous singer into taking her to Buenos Aires, where she becomes a successful actress, model and socialite. She tears Colonel Juan Domingo Perón away from his mistress by insisting that she could help him gain the political power and prestige that he wants, and they each begin to plan for a new Argentina in their separate ways. Perón is elected President, Eva tours Europe and increases her charity work to popularize herself and her husband. Eva becomes ill while she begins to debate the true reasons for her good actions, and Perón's generals try to force her out of politics. Eva wants to run for vice president, but gives into her cancer and says goodbye to Argentina.

Eva/Evita Perón, beautiful and clever 27-year-old woman; wife of newly elected President-elect Colonel Juan Domingo Perón; confident and pleased with her fame and public image.

Eva's husband has just been elected President with her help, and they are making their first public appearance. Eva understands how much of her husband's success can be attributed to her public image, and she is determined the make the people love her as well as him.

1. This song was a hit on the British pop charts when Elaine Paige originated the role in London. 
2. Patti LuPone won her first Tony Award for her performance of the role on Broadway, which also skyrocketed her career. 
3. LuPone researched all she could about Evita for the role, and admired her opportunistic political moves and her embrace of the lower class in Argentina. She also claims that the ghost of Evita visited her during the out-of-town tryout in Los Angeles.
