Show Synopsis:
Mrs. Darling has captured the shadow of a mysterious flying boy she saw in her children's nursery, and when Peter Pan returns for it, he meets her daughter Wendy. Wendy helps him sew his shadow back onto his feet, and Peter teaches her and her brothers to fly so that they can all go to his magical home island of Never Never Land. On the island, Captain Hook tries to poison Peter and his band of Lost Boys, but is frightened off by the crocodile that once chomped off his hand. The Lost Boys accidentally shoot Wendy, thinking she is a strange bird, and build a house around her while she is unconscious. Captain Hook plots to kidnap Wendy, who has become the boys' mother, and Peter saves the life of the savage princess Tiger Lily. Wendy and her brothers tell Peter they are homesick and offer their parents and home to all the Lost Boys, though Peter will not go because he does not want to grow up. The pirates kidnap them all on their way to London, and Hook tries to poison Peter, but Tinkerbell drinks it instead to save him. Peter asks the audience to clap to save her life, and when Tink is revived, she goes off with Peter to fight the pirates. Peter beats Hook in a duel and blows him up with his own bomb. Back in London, the Darlings are overjoyed to see their children and adopt the Lost Boys as their own. Years later, Peter returns to Wendy's window and asks her to go back to Never Never Land, but she is too old, so her daughter Jane goes with him instead.

Fun Facts:
1. This musical was based on the play and subsequent novel Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie. 2. The role of Peter is usually played by a woman, as it was in J.M. Barrie's original play, and notable actresses Mary Martin, Sandy Duncan, and Cathy Rigby have all played the role on Broadway.
3. Cathy Rigby is probably the most famous Peter Pan of all, performing the role on and off for 35 years. In an interview with BroadwayWorld.com, Rigby spoke about playing Peter: "Through him I can embrace anything, and I can speak out, and I can be mischievous and silly and playful and emotional. That has been a great learning process for me in life and as an actress. I remember when I was first doing the role I got a review one time that said every "t" is crossed and every "i" is dotted, but it was as predictable as a balance beam routine. And I went, "Oh, that's great because I'm perfect, but it's the complete antithesis of Peter Pan. Peter is spontaneous; he's adventuresome; he doesn't plan; he just does." It was then that my perception about playing the role changed. It was a great lesson about being in the moment. I learned to allow the spontaneity to be there. I don't think so much anymore."

"I know a place where dreams are born
And time is never planned.
It's not on any chart -
You must find it with your heart,
Never Never Land.

It might be miles beyond the road
Or right there where you stand.
Just have an open mind
And then suddenly you'll find
Never Never land

You'll have a treasure if you stay there
More precious far than gold
For once you have found your way there
You can never, never grow old.
So come with me where dreams are born
And time is never planned.
Just think of lovely things
And your heart will fly on wings
Forever
In Never Never Land."
