Fun Facts:
1. This musical was based on creator Joe Iconis?s experience musical directing a production of high school production of The Wiz and talking to the kids in the pit band about their garage bands, their connections, and their relationships.
2. In an interview with the LA-based website Neon Tommy, Iconis said that this musical should ?feel current and timeless, I?ve always felt like it didn?t want to be set in a particular year, I felt like it should always feel like now, and should always feel like someone who is twenty years older than me could look at it and be like, ?Oh, this kinda feels like when I was kid,? I feel like it doesn?t ever want to be specifically set in a time, so that was a very conscious thing.?
3. Iconis told BroadwayWorld.com in an interview that he felt that all of the characters in the show, including Lisa, were based at least a little bit on himself.
