Show Synopsis:
Jason and Peter are roommates and secret lovers at St. Cecilia?s Boarding School, and Peter tries to get Jason to audition for the school production of ?Romeo and Juliet,? because he?s tired of hiding their relationship and doing different things all the time. Jason finally goes to auditions and gets cast as Romeo opposite Ivy. Jason?s overweight twin sister Nadia is upset that her stick-thin roommate got the lead over her, and as Jason tries to console her, they find out Jason got into his dad?s alma mater Notre Dame University. Many of the students go to a rave to celebrate Ivy?s birthday, and Peter tries to kiss Jason in front of everyone, which leads them to argue about whether they should be open about their relationship or not. Matt sees them and discovers their secret. The next night, Peter gets high and starts flirting with Jason, as does a drunk Ivy, and Jason kisses Ivy, causing Matt (who has a crush on Ivy) and Peter to get any and leave. Peter and Matt get drunk and Peter tells Matt about his feelings for Jason, then hallucinates that the Virgin Mary (looking a lot like their instructor Sister Chantelle) tells him to come out to his mother. Matt tries to beat up Jason at play rehearsal for kissing Ivy and Peter tries to convince him they need to come out. Peter breaks up with Jason and sleeps with Ivy, who begins to develop intense feelings for him. After spring break, Jason breaks up with her, and Peter?s mother evades his coming out to her, but then realizes she loves him too much to ignore him. Ivy starts missing play rehearsals, and Peter instinctively steps in to play Juliet to Jason?s Romeo. Sister Chantelle tells Peter that she knows what?s bothering him and encourages him to be true to himself. Nadia taunts Ivy for being heartsick for Jason, but Ivy tells her she?s pregnant, then tells Jason. Matt tells Ivy Jason is in love with Peter, and Jason is angry with Peter for telling Matt. The priest tells Jason that he needs to deny his feelings, so Jason asks Peter to run away with him, and Peter refuses. Jason takes a lethal dose of GHB and they reaffirm their love and behind the scenes of the play performance. Jason dies in Peter?s arms, and at graduation, the students mourn the death of their valedictorian and wonder how to approach the world outside St. Cecilia?s.

Fun Facts:
1. The role of Ivy was created around the actress Jenna Leigh Green, who first performed the role in a reading in 1999, and later played it in the 2000 world premiere in Los Angeles and the 2004 Off-Broadway production. 2. In the 2012 Off-Broadway revival re-conception of the show, Elizabeth Judd, who played Ivy, described the show as being about "It's a coming-of-age story about kids just trying to figure out who they are and if who they are is right in society's eyes and struggling with that."

"Remember back in 7th grade,
Endless games of truth or dare?
Double dates to Shea's arcades...
When I close my eyes I'm there.
I think my mother took this picture
Back when were all just friends.
Memories that fade and flicker
Burn again when I pretend.

Life is short and life is strange,
Trouble now and troubled past.
Times have changed - they rearrange,
And little girls grow up so fast.
Feel it how it grows inside me,
Swirling ball of anguished cries,
Haunted, daunted, so unwanted,
Feel its anger in me rise.

Dream a dream, then dash another -
Life is there to interrupt.
Someone out there call my mother -
Look at me, mom, all grown up!

All those years she scrimped and saved
And now of course it comes to this!
If only Ivy had behaved
Or learned to stop at just a kiss.
It hits me - paralyzing - shudder -
Face the music, take a bow.
Just another unwed mother -
One more sad statistic now.

Dream a dream, then dash another.
Life is there to interrupt.
Someone out there call my mother.
Look at me, I'm all grown up.
Look at me, I'm all grown up.

Little lies and big decisions,
Who to tell and where to go -
Follow someone else's vision
Or trust my own 'cause I don't know.
Am I suppose to love this child?
Is it just that simple then?
Tell me how this change will happen.
Tell me how and tell me when,
Tell me how and tell me when.

Dream a dream, then dash another
Life is there to interrupt
Someone out there tell my mother
Look at me, I'm all grown up.

Story ends in total damage
It's an unforgiving world
17, how will I manage -
How can I?
I'm just a girl."
