Show Synopsis: Throughout the many incarnations of this musical, the general story has remained the same: Billy Crocker loves Hope Harcourt, but their romance is complicated by her mother Evangeline, who wants her to marry Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. They all end up on a boat to London, along with a group of gangsters and entertainers, particularly the singer Reno Sweeney, and highjinks ensue. By the end of the voyage, Billy and Hope have married, as have Reno and Lord Evelyn. Character: Bonnie, a boy crazy woman who works with Moonface Martin to con the rich and get away with it. Fun Facts: 1) This musical is generally seen as a vehicle for Cole Porter's score, since the plot often changes, though it tends to remain centered around madcap antics on a cruise ship. 2) The character of Bonnie has never appeared on Broadway but has appeared in versions of the musical that have been performed elsewhere. The basis of this character and the songs that have been designated to her evolved into the character of Erma.
