Glows and trembles with fiery horizon

of the hope burning that recedes

Mystérieuse où mainte floraison
Mysterious where many a blooming

Dahlia, lys, tulipe et renoncule

S'élance autour d'un treillis, et circule
Starts around a trellis, and circulates

Parmi la maladive exhalaisons
Among the sickly exhalations

De parfums lourds et chauds, dont le poison
Hot and heavy perfumes, whose poison

Noyant mes sens, mon âme et ma raison
Drowning my senses , my soul and my reason

Mêle, dans une immense pâmoison,
