Sharon Stohrer received her MM from Boston Conservatory, an MALS from Wesleyan University and a BA from Kalamazoo College (piano/harpsichord focus). She has taught voice and related subjects for several colleges and universities, including Capital and New York University.
An interest in helping musicians overcome performance anxiety has led her to write articles for Classical Singer Magazine, the NATS Journal, and three books: The Empowered Performer, The Performer’s Companion, A Guide to Conquering Performance Anxiety and The Singer’s Companion. She has given workshops on building performance confidence for numerous institutions and conferences, most recently a webinar for the Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus and a webinar for the student division of NATS, called a SNATs CHAT.
“I am a supportive, encouraging teacher who uses a variety of approaches to help each singer realize greatest potential with maximum freedom and ease. Each lesson is focused on the student: what ideas, concepts, and techniques work best for that singer.”
