Hello! I am Janet Campbell, Mezzo-Soprano and Voice teacher. I graduated from Boston Conservatory with a BM in Voice, and as a solo singer I have sung with many companies nationally and internationally, and performed leading mezzo roles such as Dorabella, Orlofski, Dido, Cherubino, The Composer and Cenerentola. I currently am a tenured member of the San Francisco Opera Chorus.
I maintain a large studio of voice students from teenagers to professional singers to retired adults. I have been on on the staff of the Young Women's Choral Projects as a Master voice teacher for 14 years, and have taught at many other institutions including The National Cathedral School, Pinewood High School, The San Francisco Opera Guild, The San Francisco Girls Chorus and San Francisco State University. A professional coach accompanist as well, I also have been an arts manager, opera administrator and director. I am a professional jazz pianist, and though I teach mostly classical singers, I also have some students focusing on Musical Theater.
I have been teaching for 42 years, and over time I have realized my passion is for teaching High School age singers, and guiding them through the process of finding the right college voice program. My students past and present study or have studied at top Vocal programs including Manhattan School of Music, Mannes, Boston Conservatory, New England Conservatory, Boston University, Eastman, Chapman, USC, UCLA, Northwestern, Indiana University and others.
