Description

On September 30, 1995, the new Pfalztheater on Willy-Brandt-Platz was inaugurated with a grand opening weekend and the theater gates opened to an enthusiastic audience under the direction of Pavel Fieber. After almost 40 years, the "temporary theater" at the torch ring came to an end. With the funds of the Pfalztheater legal entity, the Palatinate District Association, the State of Rhineland-Palatinate and the City of Kaiserslautern, a long-cherished wish for a modern theater building became a reality.

The three-part house with music theater (opera, musical, operetta), drama and dance (previously ballet) houses two venues: the large house (capacity: 628 seats) and workshop stage (99 seats). In addition to musical theater, The Pfalztheater has its own orchestra (salary class TVK B) and a house choir. 330 permanent employees ensure a varied program in all fields in front of and behind the scenes. The Pfalztheater offers a large selection of subscription options and a generous discount offer for students, schoolchildren, trainees, those doing military and community service and the severely disabled. Numerous music theater, dance and drama premieres are on the program of the large house each season. On the workshop stage, the Pfalztheater presents a diverse selection of drama, opera and dance productions as well as chamber concerts. Concerts, children's concerts, theater for children and foyer programs are also offered. The Pfalztheater also offers special productions ("workshop extra") in unusual locations outside of the city. Mobile productions and guest performances in Rhineland-Palatinate and beyond underscore the function as a regional theater.

The Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern is the only theater with a permanent ensemble in the Palatinate and the second largest in the state.
