The University of Kansas School of Music seeks to fill a full-time, academic year (nine month), tenure track artist to teach Voice in an Assistant Professor capacity to begin on August 18, 2021. The successful candidate will be a soprano, mezzo-soprano, or treble voice and surrounded by colleagues who share your passion for artistic expression and educating students, creating professional opportunities in the field and eager to create new ways for engagement in learning, research and service. The School of Music is especially interested in hiring faculty members who can contribute to the climate of diversity in the School including a diversity of scholarly artistic approaches. Applicants are preferred to possess a doctoral degree in music or related field. Applicants with a master's degree in music or related field and with significant professional performance experience will be considered. Candidates that are ABD will be considered. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. by the time of appointment.
1: Teach applied voice lessons (undergraduate and graduate) and related courses; maintain a strong voice studio; work individually and collaboratively in recruiting music performance, music education, and music therapy students; and responsible in supervising/mentoring teaching assistants.
2: Engage in service related activities in support of the School of Music and the University, including service on graduate and faculty committees.
3: Establish a research/creative agenda pursuant of artistic growth and an expanding reputation of excellence; perform with other faculty as a member of the Kansas Virtuosi; participate actively in the cultural and intellectual life of the School and the University.
1: A Master's in music or related field with significant professional experience. ABD candidates will be considered.
2: Documented success as a soprano, mezzo-soprano, or treble voice performer.
3: Demonstrated record of productive teaching excellence at the collegiate or equivalent level.
