Atlanta Master Chorale is holding auditions for the 2020-2021 season. They will be held on Saturday morning and afternoon, August 8, and Tuesday evening, August 11.

Prospective choir members need not be professional musicians, but singers should possess an excellent choral "skill-set," including:

good music-reading skills

nuanced phrasing

precise intonation.

Atlanta Master Chorale sings with a warm, tension-free tone, often without vibrato. Though our members come from different walks of life and have a wide variety of vocations, many are highly experienced singers and may be featured as soloists within the group.

Prospective members are encouraged to listen to excerpts of Atlanta Master Chorale in performance, which may be found at our YouTube channel HERE.

At your audition, you will be asked to vocalize and to sight-read a portion of a choral work. The sight-reading will be a cappella.

Additionally, we ask that you prepare EACH of the following in advance to sing at your audition. An accompanist will be provided.

One classical solo piece of your choosing (oratorio, aria, or art song preferred) that demonstrates your best vocal qualities.

A few possibilities are provided as follows:

Soprano: "Quia respexit" from Bach Magnificat [DOWNLOAD]

Alto: "O Rest in the Lord" from Mendelssohn Elijah [DOWNLOAD]

%u200BTenor: "If with all your Hearts" from Mendelssohn Elijah [DOWNLOAD]

%u200BBass: "Bright is the ring of words" by Vaughan Williams [DOWNLOAD]

Sing your part from this section of BOTH the following two choral works:

Rheinberger Abendlied [DOWNLOAD]

To schedule an audition, please contact us by completing the form at the bottom of this page.

There is a membership fee and it will be announced in the initial communications. Scholarship options are available.

If you are planning to audition, please review the detailed season calendar [DOWNLOAD] and identify any potential conflicts. If there is a conflict with one or more of the dates, we would still encourage you to audition.
