Practicing For Singers

A Guide to Solid Practice Habits

By Joanie Brittingham

A practical guide for making the most out of your practice sessions, with actionable advice and invaluable resources–all delivered with insight and good humor.

Paperback: $25.00 | Digital: $9.95

More About the Book

Singers have a poor reputation for practicing–and it’s not our fault. While instrumentalists gain habits and techniques for practicing skills from an early age, most singers start later and have no idea how to master their technical and repertoire progress. Our earliest singing experiences are by ear; we learn to read music and develop musicianship skills at the same time that we are learning our technique and memorizing songs, often in a foreign language! It can be overwhelming, but there are ways to develop practice habits that improve your music learning and help you reach your goals. In this book, you will find easy steps for building your practice routine, from setting intentions to warm-ups to learning music for which there is no recording to evaluating your progress through detailed practice journals. Entering a practice room should be a joy and not a chore–find out how here!
