Bio

Soprano Sabrina Ellis currently resides in Austin, Texas, where she is completing her BM in Music Studies at the University of Texas Butler School of Music. There, Ms. Ellis studies with Nikita Storojev and has sung with the Chamber Singers premiere choral ensemble, the Early Music Ensemble, and the Butler Opera Center. She has sung in multiple opera productions and solo recitals as a part of the Butler Music community. Coming from an enriched background of choral and solo singing, Ms. Ellis is the proud founder of the You Belong Here Project, which works to empower LGBTQ+ youth with the commission of new choral works by LGBTQ+ composers. This community project, originally scheduled to premiere its first work in April 2020, has brought the conversation of acceptance into not only the Butler School, but also the surrounding communities of Austin.

Ms. Ellis has kicked off into a young, exciting performance career, singing a vibrant Gretel in scenes from Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel with the Butler Opera Center and Turnspit in Dvořák’s Rusalka with the LAH-SOW summer opera program. Up next, she will be premiering the role of Natasha in the new work “Audition Fever” by Tzu-Chin Hsu with the Butler Opera Center in April 2021, as well as singing Papagena in the LAH-SOW 2021 summer production of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. Ms. Ellis was also recently named First Place Winner of the Dallas Semifinals in the Music International Grand Prix. She, like many other singers, is eager to finally return to the stage to share music with her community.
